As a pilot of 30 plus years and 22000 flight hours and working 3 at-802 agricultural spray planes this ruling needs serious attention.
The safety of all aviation will be compromised allowing this to pass. As an ag pilot operating at 150 to 175 mph at 15 feet during application and transitioning from 1000 feet to the 15 to 60 feet approach to make the application with no communication the only way for to have any knowledge of incoming traffic is for the line of sight and basically the ability to hear approaching traffic.
As the pilot in command of an ag plane our focus is mainly on our approach into the field on obstacles of wires, trees, traffic, and people.
The communication between already existing drones is unfortunately minimal and the current drone community thinks this is the Wild West and they operate without current consequences when they are in violation of FAA regs. If you add this to the mix LIVES will be lost
